The Mets have designated 25-year old righty swinging 3B Shawn Bowman for assignment. He played in 91 games in AA-ball last season and he was 102 of 347 (.294 avg, .804 OPS) with 42 runs scored, 9 homers and 44 RBIs. Bowman whiffed a stunning 101 times last season which is way too many for a hitter like him. In his seven years in the minors, Bowman has played in 439 games in which he is 401 of 1,589 (.252 avg) with 207 runs scored, 52 homers and 213 RBIs. Bowman has already cleared waivers and he is starting the 2010 season in AAA for the Mets.
