Riggans has now played in 64 games in his major league career and he is 38 for 188 (.202 avg, .622 OPS) with 27 runs scored, 7 homers and 28 RBIs. Riggans will likely start the season in AAA and get a call to the Mets if the need arises.

34-year old lefty reliever/starter Hisanori Takahashi signed a minor league deal with the Mets. He will make $1 million bucks with $500,000 dollars in possible incentives if he makes the Mets. Takahashi was 79-66 with a 3.70 ERA in 10 years with the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese League. He will likely battle to be the second lefty out of the pen for the Mets this spring.

The Mets have signed 29-year old lefty swinging 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal that will pay him $900,000 bucks if he makes the team. He also has $1.15 million bucks in incentives. Jacobs played in 128 games for the Royals last season and he was 99 for 434 (.228 avg, .698 OPS) with 46 runs scored, 19 homers and 61 RBIs. He has now played in 549 games in his major league career and he is 484 for 1,906 (.254 avg, .789 OPS) with 243 runs scored, 99 homers and 308 RBIs. This was a good signing for the Mets as Jacobs will battle Daniel Murphy and Fernando Tatis this spring for the 1B job. He without a doubt has the most power of the guys battling for the job this spring.

The New York Mets claim Jason Pridie off waivers

The Mets have claimed 26-year old lefty swinging Jason Pridie off waivers from the Twins. He played in 1 game for the Twins last season but he didn’t bat. He also played in 121 games in AAA-ball last season and he was 136 for 513 (.265 avg, .677 OPS) with 69 runs scored, 9 homers, 53 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. Pridie has now played in 11 games in his major league career and he is 0 for 4 (.000 avg, .200 OPS) with 3 runs scored. It never hurts to add depth like this to the outfield so I like this move for the Mets.
