Sometimes lefties do take a little longer to develop. But, the Mets have a lot of starters ahead of him on the depth chart right now.

Not getting excited chin, I just know what he is capable of.

You must remember that at one stage he was rated as the #2 prospect in the Mariners system. He is only 27 which isn't exactly ancient for a pitcher.

Just give him a chance!

Brett,

It's spring training. I wouldn't get too excited about him quite yet.

Two outings thus far for a 0.00 ERA. He belongs at the Majors level and if not will be a great addition to the Mets AAA affiliate either in the pen or the rotation.

We will see Clint. I don't put much stock in the World Baseball Classic. I do put stock in major and minor league numbers and Blackley hasn't shown much at either level in his career to date.

This would also be the same Blackley that gave up only one run in 5 2/3 innings when pitching for Australia against a very power Cuban team at the World Baseball Classic last year so he might have a bit of talent.

You guys are a tough crowd. I have seen this guy been lights out. He may not start the season in the bigs, but would be a welcome addition during the season to cover injuries.

It is the same guy Gary. I think he was signed more of as organizational depth anyway. I would be surprised and actually shocked if he pitched for the Mets in 2010.
