The New York Mets designate Raul Casanova for assignment
The Mets have designated catcher Raul Casanova for assignment to make room for Ramon Castro coming off of the D.L. This is a shame for Casanova who played pretty well this season for the Mets. He played in 12 games for the Mets this season and he was 13 for 46 (.283 avg, .731 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 6 RBIs. Casanova will probably accept his outright assignment to AAA ball unless another major league team comes calling for him.
