The New York Mets outfield has been outstanding with the bats so far this season

Carlos Beltran, Moises Alou and Shawn Green are all off to scorching starts for the Mets. Beltran has played in 20 games so far this season and he’s 28 for 83 (.337 avg, 1.027 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 4 homers, 19 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. He’s also playing outstanding defense for the Mets. Shawn Green has also been playing very well this season. In 20 games this season he’s 27 for 77 (.351 avg, .990 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 3 homers and 13 RBIs. The Mets will be doing backflips in the dugout if Green keeps hitting like he is right now. Moises Alou might be able to hit .300 when he’s 50 year old. In 19 games this season he’s 26 for 69 (.377 avg, .958 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 2 homers and 10 RBIs. What an amazing outfield the Mets have this season, hopefully they can all stay healthy and productive.

Jose Reyes off to an MVP-like start for the New York Mets

Jose Reyes has been outstanding for the Mets so far this season as he’s evolving into the best leadoff hitter in baseball. In 20 games so far this season, Reyes is 31 for 87 (.356 avg, 1.049 OPS) with 23 runs scored, 5 triples, 2 homers, 16 RBIs and 12 stolen bases! Reyes is starting to remind me a little bit of Rickey Henderson and that’s really saying something.

The New York Mets need Paul LoDuca to get his bat going

If Paul LoDuca is going to continue to bat 2nd in the Mets lineup he will need to start hitting the baseball better. In 14 games so far this season, LoDuca is only 14 for 58 (.241 avg, .618 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 1 homer and 6 RBIs. He’s a much better hitter than he’s shown so far this season and I expect him to snap out of his funk soon for the Mets.

The New York Mets have another good week

The Mets went 4-2 last week as they outscored their opponents 44-24. The Mets are going to be tough to beat if they keep getting decent starting pitching this season. The Mets are currently in 2nd place in the National League East with a 11-6 record, 1/2 a game behind the Atlanta Braves.

Carlos Delgado off to a slow start for the New York Mets

Blogged under Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 10:53 pm

In Delgado’s first 13 games this season he’s only hitting .222 with a .542 OPS. He is 12 for 54 with 6 runs scored and 8 RBIs. Delgado has not hit a homer yet this season and he’s already whiffed 15 times. Still, it’s only a matter of time until he gets it going big time in the Mets potent lineup.
